ARCHITECTURE FOR THE RHYTHMS OF HUMAN LIFE

Common Dwells is an interdisciplinary architecture and design studio shaping homes and environments that support well-being, daily ritual, and nature-connected living.

“We shape our homes, and our homes shape us.”

Light, material, sound, and spatial sequence influence how we sleep, focus, gather, and recover. Yet many contemporary spaces are designed as static objects rather than living systems. Common Dwells works with architecture as an active tool: shaping environments that align with human biology and the natural world.

Sea Ranch House

Learn more about Common Dwells in this video about our latest renovation, Sea Ranch House — a West Coast Modern home in Vancouver. The house was completed in March 2026 and documented by Amitié Studio as part of Lock & Mortice “Design Unlocked’ series.

The video will be released on April 20.

The Circadian Home

Our core design system explores a circadian lifestyle, guided by the body’s internal clock, and its relationship to the built environment. We translate this research into design decisions: how a home receives light, how it supports rest, how it encourages connection, and how it restores the nervous system across the day.

Practice

Residential Architecture

New builds, renovations, transformations and retreats designed for long-term living — paced by light, ritual, and relationship to landscape.

Interior Environments

Spatial identity through material intelligence: joinery, tactility, atmosphere, and the sensory details that change how a place feels to inhabit.

Concept & Spatial Research

Research-led frameworks and early-phase concept development for culturally aligned brands, hospitality, and design teams seeking rigor beyond aesthetics.

The New Luxury

We believe the future of luxury is quieter: less accumulation, more clarity. Spaces that protect time. Materials that age with dignity. Environments that support health, attention, and presence.
